Softball wins first of season
The Lady Lions won the first game of their season Saturday, also falling to two teams this week.
PW 20, Dublin 1
The girls played Perrin-White on Monday, losing 20-1.
Lessly Robles hit a single, scored a run and stole three bases.
Letty Perez hit a double.
PW 8, JV Dublin 7
JV lost to Perrin White 8-7 on Monday.
Kylie Olvera hit a triple and two singles, scoring three times.
Yajaira Delatorre hit a single and walked on once.
Evelyn Garcia, who pitched four strikeouts, scored a run and walked on three times.
Dublin 15, Santo 14
Dublin won their first game of the season against Santo on Saturday 15-14.
“We had to battle for it,” coach Jason Clark said. “We were down 6-1 again, and we came back and scored four runs in three innings in a row to take the lead. Then we had to hold them off late. I was really proud of the fight we showed to take that game.”
Tayleigh Pendlton hit a double and two singles, making it home twice. She batted in four runs and stole three bases.
Robles hit a double and a single and walked on once, finding home three times.
Olvera hit a double and three singles and walked on once. She scored four times and stole four times. Rianna Turner hit three singles and walked on once, scoring one run. Maeleigh Geijsel pitched.
CP 17, Dublin 7
On Friday, the Lady Lions lost to Cross Plains, who ran away with the lead late in the game, 17-7. “We made it a game,” Clark said. “We were down 6-1 and then came back and made it 7-6 us. Then we let them take it back. We just have to finish.” Pendleton his three singles and stole two bases, scoring once. Robles hit two singles. Addison Stout hit a double and a single, scoring one run. Olvera and Geijsel shared pitching duties.
